Literature Text

mud gurgles up
and up
and up
and up;
a constant flow of disgust

your throat is burning with sludge;
slime coats your tongue, darkens your teeth
words slide off in an easy enough manner but
they are words as light as your mouth
which is clogged with muck;
your teeth are stained and brown
spittle flies from your cracked lips as you
snarl harsh phrases that I do not hear.

where have you gone?
your long red hair once cascaded
down around your perfect face
in perfect little curls

but you are tangled and wild
and you are not the girl I know
you are not my best friend
not anymore.

my best friend does not
brush me off

wear me down

ignore my pleas

keep me in the dark, the cold

rub my bleeding heart
until it is raw, raw, raw.

what happened to you?
you and your long red hair
were once as warm and
as bright as the summer sun
that I see today.

but the little I have gotten from you
for months
and months
and months
is as cold and as dark as winter.
This is a mess but that is okay, because so am I.

Sorry about the lack of punctuation but I don't particularly care.
